So I have now been to hou hai three times: once dying the day with the entire group, once in the late afternoon with my language partner and Maria and Leah, and once at night with the group for swat was supposed to be dinner and dancing util we got rained out. However, even though I have not yet had the chance to experience the full night life there, I still can appreciate the beauty of the area. During the day there are street performers and a few vendors and from what I have seen during the night it’s a place that can really come to life. If you want to check out more information about it look here: click me!

Probably my favorite time visiting was the first group tour with all my classmates (pictured below).

We went to hou hai as part of one of our cultural excursions and it was really lovely. I think everyone was enjoying him/herself which was great because everyone was happy and seemed in a positive mood. This trip created a wonderful bonding experience.

It was a beautiful day, the water looked halfways decent, and I got to enjoy a rooftop snack with the whole class. Here Maria and Aleeya can be seen enjoying the rooftop restaurant.

Even though it may have been a little warm, we all cooled down in the afternoon with a refreshing drink and light fruit snack on top of a roof that overlooked the lake.  You can see the general enthusiasm of the students here.

I think this was also the first place where I really got to see some cool street performers singing, they were right in front of the lake and sang beautifully.

To the right you can see a picture of the performers and the audience that had gathered around the area to also listen! If you click here: justmytumblritsnbd you can see a video of the performance! At this point we were right next to a major street so there is a little extra noise in the video!

One of the other two times that I went to Hou Hai I was honestly a little disappointed with the trip because of the rain. However, I also enjoyed the shopping scene that is only a street or two over from the lake part of the area.

My language partner took me and two friends, as I mentioned above, to go window shopping in the area. There were interesting shops, cute vendors, and delicious food available everywhere. Leah even got a pair of cat ears!

To anyone who was thinking about venturing out to this area, I would definitely recommend (unless it’s raining or if you want to dance, then go someplace else) going here! It’s a gorgeous outdoor visiting area. I mean look at this scenic view:

How can you not want to check this place out? If I had the opportunity, I would go back and see more of the area and maybe go out on the lake! But I am very pleased that out class was able to bond on this outing in a beautiful location.
